BRIEF
Relate is a dating app that focuses on peoples values for best match. Their mission is meaningful relationships that lasts, with a vision of a more aware, authentic, and understanding world for how we meet and build relationships. 

They wanted a promotional video to use on social media.

STORY

We want to tell a realistic romantic story. Serious relationships don’t just span from meet cutes like in the movies, they take time, dedication and equal investment from both parties. 

Our story follows two characters who are meant to be but unaware of each other's existence. They value spending time with their significant others, are self-reflective and desire a serious partner to share their lives with.

Through a split screen format we see these characters figuring out that their current relationships aren’t working, and try to find new partners who share their interests. We follow the couple as they end up next to each other, unaware they are going through the same thing until they match with each other
on Relate. 

ViSUAL REFRENSES

Nostalgic / vintage feel
We want to connect with audience members who are nostalgic for past dating culture (versus the current hook-up culture) by using pastel colors, various textures, and photographic elements for a vintage feel.

Authentic
We want to emphasize the importance of authenticity by focusing the animation on human movements. To make it as realistic as possible, we will rotoscope (hand draw the animations) over actual human actions so that it feels like these characters have come to life.

Minimalistic 
Our characters will lack facial features so that it is easier for audience members to relate to them. The settings of the scenes will be minimalistic, so that viewers focus their attention on the characters.
